My name is Brian walling. I first met Shawn, Natalee, Dakota & Kaitlyn Cross and the horses at Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue in April of 2006 when my wife & I went to look for a companion for her gelding. I wasn't much into horses, but was there to support my wife in her passion. I was blown away by how many horses they had, but were still able to be dedicated to each one. They knew each ones habits, story, likes and dislikes. We ended up adopting a donkey from them. My wife wanted to do more and get involved in helping Blaze's. I began helping her in her fund raising efforts and started working with some of her horses. I have to admit, I wasn't a horse person when I first came to Blaze's. It wasn't that I didn't like them, but just didn't think that I would find myself as dedicated to them as I am today. After spending time with Blaze's and learning more, I found myself wanting a horse of my own. We talked to Shawn & Natalee, told them our wants and needs, and they went to work to help us find me the right horse. We ended up adopting Captain Jack. He's been a great horse for me and has taught me so much. We've since adopted 5 other horses from them. In 2008, I was asked to be the Barn Director for Blaze's. I haul donated hay, transport horses, pick up donated items or do whatever else is needed to help Blaze's run smoothly. I'm very honored to be a part of the Blaze's family and am thankful to them everyday that they lead me to my horse, Captain Jack.
